About Me

Hello! I am Yuan Meng, a researcher currently pursuing my PhD at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). My research focuses on embodied reinforcement learning, where I explore innovative ways to integrate artificial intelligence with physical systems. I began my academic journey at RWTH Aachen University, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in September 2020. From October 2020 to November 2023, I pursued a Master’s degree in Mechatronics and Robotics, delving deep into the intricacies of automation and intelligent systems. Now, as a PhD candidate at TUM, I am excited to contribute to the field of embodied reinforcement learning, aiming to develop adaptive, intelligent robots that can interact seamlessly with their environment. Feel free to explore my website to learn more about my research and publications!

My Projects

Project LEGION

LEGION - Preserving and combining knowledge in robotic lifelong reinforcement learning

• Developed a novel framework for lifelong reinforcement learning that accumulate knowledge through Bayesian non-parametric representation space.
• Implemented a hierarchical reinforcement learning algorithm (LEGION) that learns a policy for kuka iiwa in simulated one-time feeding stream of tasks.
• Deployed learned framework on a real kuka iiwa and validate its performance in real-world.
• Paper published on Nature Machine Intelligence (2025, Vol.7(2):pp.256-269)
